About us

The Handmaids Girls’ Model Secondary School started as HHCJ Assumpta Girls’ Model Secondary School with the intention of moving this school from Aladinma to his present location in Area G.

This transfer from Aladinma to Area G was motivated by the intention to do away with day school and embrace a pure boarding school for girls only. The school was to begin with only JSS 1 while the admission into JSS 1 in Aladinma ceased. It was intended that within a space of six years, Aladinma would have completely emptied into Area G.

In 2016/2017, entrance examination took place in Aladinma for all classes except JSS 3 and SS 3. At the end, all JSS 1 students were admitted into Area G School. Thus the school started with 38 students. Aladinma School had no JSS 1 for 2016/2017 academic year. Sr. Providentia Igwe was the principal of both Aladinma and Area G schools.  Sr. Rose Udoka Ukachukwu was the vice principal permanently staying at Area  G. Five Reverend Sisters were posted to live with the students and form part of the teaching staff. Since the two schools were viewed as one and there was only 38 students, the teachers commuted from Aladinma to Area G to teach the students.

Before the end of the school year, parents of students in Aladinma expressed their sadness over the decision of moving the school away from Aladinma. They were not happy and did not support the move at all. They protested the closure of the school. They gave reasons why the school should continue to exist as a day school.

It became necessary to revisit the decision of closing HHCJ Assumpta Girls’ Model Secondary School Aladinma. In June 2017, permission was granted by the Superior General to allow HHCJ Assumpta Girls’ Model Secondary School, Area G operate as a distinct school separate from its sister school at Aladinma.

Giving this permission, the registration of the school started immediately as a separate school with a new name “HANDMAIDS GIRLS’ MODEL SECONDARY SCHOOL.” The motto of the school is “DIGNITY THROUGH HOLISTIC EDUCATION.” It subjected itself to initial inspection from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Owerri.

On November 12, 2018 and to the glory of God, it received a government approval.

Your success..!! Is our goal..!!

No work is of greater importance for God’s glory than the education of the young...(MMCMW)
